Star Wars Rebels reveals a new Jedi character! [video]

A new exciting character has just been revealed for the upcoming show Star Wars Rebels! The new character is named Kanan and will be voiced by actor Freddie Prinze Jr.. Kanan is "a gunslinger full of bravado" who will be part of the crew of the spaceship "Ghost".

Kanan is a Jedi who lived through Order 66, the order by Emperor Palpatine to hunt down and kill all remaining Jedi, and has since been keeping a low profile so that he is not hunted down. Prinze says that this has massively affected him and that you will see signs of it in the show.

"He keeps his lightsaber under lock and key and brandishes a blaster instead to avoid the attention of the Empire, especially the Inquisitor (a Sith villain) and his Stormtroopers. But Kanan gets his Force-ful groove back with his crew on the spaceship The Ghost and fights back against the imperial menace."

Executive producer Dave Filoni describes the character of Kanan as a "cowboy Jedi." He is more laid back and as quick with his banter as he is with his blaster or lightsaber.

This will be a really exciting character to see develop on the show and the more I hear about Star Wars Rebels the more excited I get!
