World's oldest 20 sided die found!
Gamers will be interested to know that the world's oldest 20 sided die (also known as a D20) has just been found in Egypt! The newly discovered die beats out the last record holder which was a glass die discovered in Rome that dated back to the 2nd century AD.
This new die however (pictured right) goes all the way back to the Egyptian Ptolemaic Period which is between 304 - 30 B.C. That's right! The same die that Dungeons and Dragons (a.k.a D&D) and other table top gamers use, had been used in Ancient Egypt! It is not known what this 20 sided die was used for but the fact that it existed so long ago is simply amazing!
D&D jokes aside, what do you think the Egyptians used this die for?
