First ever video game Grammy nomination goes to the co-op adventure game Journey!
Big news for the video game industry came today in the form of a surprising Grammy nomination. The video game Journey, an adventure co-op game, has been nominated in the category Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. This is a surprising nomination because no video game has ever been up for a Grammy before. (The game Civilization was nominated but the song nominated was created for a different media first. So it was not a true video game nomination.) Even though video game composers such as Koji Kondo,
Nubuo Uematsu, and Tim Folin (as well as many others) have been creating beautiful immersive scores for their games for years, society has been slow to look at game music as art. So this nomination is a very big deal for the industry.
Even though its music is stunning, Journey won't have an easy win. It will be competing against The Dark Knight Rises, Hugo, Tintin, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Artist.
My vote is definitely for Journey. Which do you think should take home the Grammy?

This is the most beautiful video game I've played. The music is gorgeous! Good luck to Journey! :)
