Giant Gollum sculpture goes fishing in Wellington Airport! [video]
Those walking into the Wellington Airport in New Zealand are in for a big surprise.
The Wellington Airport has hung up a 40 foot long sculpture of Gollum from Peter Jackson's films The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The sculpture was created by Weta Workshop and was built over a span of four months. Gollum will promote the upcoming The Hobbit film while reminding film makers that New Zealand offers exotic locations for films.
The sculpture is quite detailed and features Gollum sticking his head under water and reaching for one of three fish that are hanging by him. In the video below you can watch as the Weta Workshop team constructs the sculpture and transports it to the airport. It is a fantastic start to finish film of the sculpture being made.
