Mexican gymnast performs to The Legend of Zelda medly at the 2012 London Olympics! [video]

The world may have caught several fandom related references within London's Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Olympics but there was one reference during competition that may have slipped by unnoticed.

During her qualification routine, Mexican gymnast Elsa Garcia Rodriguez Blancas performed her floor routine to an arrangement of music from the video game franchise The Legend of Zelda. The arrangement used comprised of music created by Koji Kondo and included the original medley, the gerudo valley theme, and the lost woods theme which are all featured in the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Unfortunately for Elsa, she was only able to compete in two events because of an injured hand. Her score on the Balance Beam was a 12.400 and her Floor Routine was a 13.733, which was good enough to grab her 35th place.

I don't know how everyone else feels about using video game music in a world stage competition, but Elsa gained one more supporter after I watched this video. This was truly fantastic.
