Nintendo announces new Wii U controllers in Pre-E3 Nintendo Direct feed!
In today's Pre-E3 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata, revealed some pretty big announcements concerning the Wii U. One of the main focuses of the Wii U is the new innovative controller. Iwata not only showed us the official Wii GamePad (yes, it officially has a name now) but he revealed a whole new controller, the Wii U Pro Controller.
The new updated GamePad now features two clickable analogue sticks instead of the sliders that we had previously seen. For now the sliders will remain soley on the 3DS. Iwata also revealed some other aspects of the controller including a small little square on the left of the controller is a Near-Field Communication reader / writer, allowing figurines and other objects to interact with Wii U. There is another small button on the bottom right hand side that lets you use the controller as an infra-red television remote control. Also, Nintendo announced that the back of the Wii U GamePad has been redisigned so that it is more comfortable to hold. Thank you, Nintendo! There was also a black version of the Wii U GamePad seen in the Nintendo Direct feed which is really nice!

For more traditional gamers who prefer the feel of a classic style controller, Nintendo has heard your pleas and answered in kind! Nintendo has announced the Wii U Pro controller which has the look and feel of an older classic controller that will make many gamers happy. There is no touch screen on the Wii U Pro controller. The Wii U Pro controller has four shoulder buttons, two analogue
sticks, a d-pad, and four face buttons. There is also a slot at the top that looks like it could be used to charge the controller or have another unknown feature. This is the controller that Nintendo gamers have been waiting for. The GamePad may have some amazing features but this Pro controller is what gamers have been pleading for! Thank you, Nintendo!
