Francis Lawrence chosen to direct Catching Fire
It didn't take them too long to find their replacement as Lionsgate has officially settled on director Francis Lawrence to take control of Catching Fire. Lawrence will replace Gary Ross who directed the first film in the franchise, The Hunger Games, to blockbuster status. Francis Lawrence has previously directed Water For elephants, Constantine, and I Am Legend.
Now that they have chosen their director, Lionsgate has to move pretty quick given that they have given the movie a November 22, 2013 release date and, more importantly, they need to be done filming Jennifer Lawrence's scenes by the end of 2012. In January FOX will option her contract for X-Men: First Class 2 and Jennifer will have to report to the X-Men set.
